Disposal of polluted snow masses and installation of snow dumps in the cities of the Russian Arctic (using the example of Norilsk)

Abstract

One of the most pressing problems of all cities in the Arctic zone of Russia, without exception, is snow removal from street and road networks and yard areas and its subsequent disposal. The study analyzes the condition of snow dumps in Norilsk, methods of disposing of snow masses, taking into account compliance with the requirements of environmental legislation, identified shortcomings in the design and operation of snow dumps, and made proposals for improving and greening snow disposal methods in the territory.
